The Woodland Academy
The Woodland Academy project is an exciting collaboration between researchers at University of Bristol and education professionals at Urban Pursuit focused upon developing a new curricular approach to the teaching of STEM subjects in an outdoor environment.
We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners interested in developing approaches to supporting children and young people who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties at school. In this project we are exploring the development of an outdoor learning curriculum. This is a two year project funded by an ESRC Impact Award supporting a collaboration between the Graduate School of Education,University of Bristol and Urban Pursuit – a community interest company in Bristol. Helen Knowler (Principal Investigator) and Neil Dennison (Project Coordintator) are working alongside Irina Lazar and myself to design and implement curriculum materials in Urban Pursuit’s Woodland Academy located on the outskirts of the city of Bristol, UK. |
